Rustic Chic at CJ’s Off the Square

posted by semarketing on April 8th, 2013

Looking for a fun way to dress up your farm tables? Erin Lee caught some wonderful shots of our rustic farm tables dressed up with our white wood folding chairs, silver poly linens and mercury glass. The bright pop of color given by the flowers and candles brightened up this simple silver and white tablescape. We feel that this gave it a wonderful and easy rustic chic feel, bringing two looks together for a crisp, polished look!

Houston Station Holiday Party

posted by semarketing on February 13th, 2013

We always have SO much fun showcasing our new pieces at Houston Station. This venue not only has its own gorgeous downtown feel with hardwoods and exposed brick, but it can mix well with so many different looks – vintage to elegant, and everything in between! Every once in a while we vendors have to throw our OWN party- and party we did! Some of the wonderful vendors that showcased their goods included The Enchanted Florist, Bright Event Productions, Ribbons of Chocolate, Flavor Catering, Two Fat Men, Savannah Tea Company, Smoke Et Al, and Noteable Blends.

We brainstormed a unique combination of Rustic Chic and Mad Men styling. We told two sides to the same love story, if you will! We especially love how our farm tables can transition from an elegant black and red setting to a vintage mix-match look.

The vendor Holiday Party at Houston Station gave us a wonderful opportunity to showcase our new Vienna Furniture featuring gorgeous white leather along with our assorted Galvanized items like our Cocktail Tables, Bar Top and Coffee/Lounge Table. Our new high backed lounge furniture gives a wonderful sense of elegance and drama, but still blends very well with modern galvanized pieces or our Vintage Farm Table, Cross-Back Chairs and our assortment of other Vintage Prop Shoppe pieces. Whether you’re a Mad Men style couple or more of a fan of Rustic Chic, we are willing to enhance your event with our custom styling! At this event we featured two Whiskey Barrel Bar ideas, one with a Galvanized top and one with a Diamond Plate bar top.

A Red Affair- Ashley and Avery at the Red House, June 4th

posted by semarketing on December 16th, 2012

The Red House is one of our favorite venues in Historic Downtown Franklin. With close proximity to Main Street, beautifully restored historic home and lush event lawn, this venue is perfect for any event sized 150 or under! Couples can enjoy full use of the gardens and home for their event, with or without outdoor tenting. At 130 years old, the Red House has historic charm along with modern indoor features that we love. Meishach Moore shot this gorgeous summer wedding at the Red House last summer, showing how the grounds can be utilized inside and out for a wedding. This couple used our Unity Candleabra for their ceremony, White Wooden Folding Chairs, Write On Chalk Boards, and our Light Blue poly linens accented by a Toast poly runner. If the Red House has struck a chord with you, please visit them here!

Get Your “Just Desserts”!

posted by semarketing on October 18th, 2012

Colin Cowie said it best- “Without a doubt, the ultimate icon for a wedding is the cake! It’s the crowning glory, or the pièce de résistance of any wedding. For most of my brides, no matter how small or large the budget, it lives right up there in importance with “the dress.” In recent years, wedding desserts have evolved to become more than just a cake. It is a total visual and gastronomic fantasy of desserts. The dessert table of today is not your mother’s Viennese Table. It has become an art form. Done correctly, it goes far beyond displaying the wedding cake, acting as both décor and a wow moment all wrapped up for a sweet and happy ending.

Fondant or frosting, vanilla or chocolate, decadent dessert bar or voluminous cake- the ‘pièce de résistance ‘ for your event is a chance to show who you are and what you love!

If you’re looking for an elegant and refined feel to your dessert table, 100 Layer Cake recently dedicated a whole blog to different looks for modern cakes. A few of our favorites are pictured below.

But don’t feel confined by a traditional cake if you and your loved one are more free-spirited! Preston Bailey recommends something more whimsical and fun- reminiscent of childhood days. These sophisticated sundaes, plated individually, are an ice cream lover’s dream.

Or, you can have your cake… and everything else you love! The fantastic thing about a dessert bar at your reception is that there really are no rules. For a touch of traditionalism, you can have a tiered cake; for a fun and more hands-on feel, you can add any of your favorite desserts. The Ruffled Blog shows a dessert bar below that fulfills any sweet tooth, including cupcakes, brownies and pies.

Whichever look and feel you are drawn to for your event, Southern Events has a wide array of cake plateaus and cupcake/dessert stands to choose from!

Glam Bohemian Wedding Ideas

posted by semarketing on October 8th, 2012

Want some great ideas for a stylized farm wedding? Style Me Pretty recently did a fantastic bohemian style wedding featured on their blog and we LOVE it! Who knew that bright florals, rustic wood tables and black lace could be paired together perfectly? Check out this innovative blog here for some great ideas. Move over cowboy boots, princess-style glam is taking over the rustic barn venue!

You too can take this New York style and transform it into a perfect Tennessee wedding with some of our great rentals at Southern Events.

To dress up a minimal dinner setting, our Round Fine China adds just the right touch of class! You can’t go wrong when it’s paired with our Abby Fine Silver Flatware.

Our glamorous Ivory Pintuck linen and Carly Water Goblet really dress up this sweet and simple rose centerpiece.

Our Carriage Lantern stands make a great display for some colorful and simple flowers near a ceremony space! Above, our Moroccan Lantern adds a touch of drama to a simple table setting.

We have added two wonderful rustic items to our inventory at Southern Events, Rustic Benches and Farm Tables. Rented together, these items make the perfect pair, especially to compliment your outdoor barn or farm venue wedding! If you would rather pair chairs with the farm tables, we’ve got you covered with our rustic Cross-Back Chairs.

If you’re looking for a more casual centerpiece, our Heirloom Mix Matched China pairs beautifully with our new Vintage Handkerchiefs. Available in a wide array of colors, these items really pop when paired with the Farm Tables and Oatmeal Runners.

Bold Looks with Red and Blue

posted by semarketing on February 23rd, 2012

There’s nothing quite as eye catching as a good dose of a bold look like red and white or blue and white. Some couples choose these colors to be patriotic, others just happen to have a favorite shade of blue or red they choose to incorporate in their event. Whatever the reason may be, there are many gorgeous looks that can be achieved when you choose a bold theme. This event took place at Lillie Belle’s in Historic Downtown Franklin last year and features some gorgeous shots of our rentals from Sara Gibbs Photography.

Joe Hendricks Photograpy caught some shots of a dramatic event at The Factory in 2011. The red really popped against the white linens and chair covers!

For a more sophisticated look, chiavaris chairs can really add an elegant aspect to a simple farm table. This Massachusetts wedding featured on Style Me Pretty also features items that are familiar to our inventory, like our new Whiskey Barrels!

The Pink Book recently did a blog on us featuring some pictures from the Pink Bride Bridal Show this January. We went for a canopy look using burlap as curtains and our burlap-like “Oatmeal” Runners on our table. Classic and timeless, this look emphasizes a more traditional barn wedding look! Our Farm Tables have been a big hit with Southern Brides and are being booked quickly for spring and summer weddings so book soon if you are interested! Here is a link to the item on our website!

Going Green!

posted by semarketing on January 7th, 2012

One of my very favorite rentals would have to be the Emerald Green Reception Plates, shown below for a bridal shower at CJ’s Off the Square! These opaque spring green plates really create a fantastic and fresh statement, especially when they are complimented by our Panama Lime Green Pindot Linens. This Spring look was completed with some of our White Wood Folding Chairs and some centerpiece arrangements that almost looked good enough to eat! JHenderson Studios did a fantastic job of capturing the rich colors and textures at this shower.

Saylor/Rhinelander at Belle Meade Plantation

posted by semarketing on December 21st, 2011
There are few things as eye catching and nostalgic as a vintage wedding at a historic venue like the Belle Meade Plantation. Taking place on the front lawn of the plantation, the ceremony had an easy and laid back vibe that was complimented by a vintage car ride in a 1950′s Pontiac. This couple utilized many of our Vintage Prop Shoppe pieces to complete the fun feel of this ceremony and reception. True Indiana fans at heart, this couple even modeled his Groom’s Cake and her garter after their beloved school!
Sara Gibbs Photography captured some great shots of this 158 year old historic site that is commonly used for all types of events in the Nashville area.
