Going Green!

posted by semarketing on January 7th, 2012

One of my very favorite rentals would have to be the Emerald Green Reception Plates, shown below for a bridal shower at CJ’s Off the Square! These opaque spring green plates really create a fantastic and fresh statement, especially when they are complimented by our Panama Lime Green Pindot Linens. This Spring look was completed with some of our White Wood Folding Chairs and some centerpiece arrangements that almost looked good enough to eat! JHenderson Studios did a fantastic job of capturing the rich colors and textures at this shower.

Saylor/Rhinelander at Belle Meade Plantation

posted by semarketing on December 21st, 2011
There are few things as eye catching and nostalgic as a vintage wedding at a historic venue like the Belle Meade Plantation. Taking place on the front lawn of the plantation, the ceremony had an easy and laid back vibe that was complimented by a vintage car ride in a 1950′s Pontiac. This couple utilized many of our Vintage Prop Shoppe pieces to complete the fun feel of this ceremony and reception. True Indiana fans at heart, this couple even modeled his Groom’s Cake and her garter after their beloved school!
Sara Gibbs Photography captured some great shots of this 158 year old historic site that is commonly used for all types of events in the Nashville area.

Specialty Linen Looks For Your Cake Table

posted by semarketing on November 17th, 2011

At Southern Events, we have a collection of linens that can easily draw guests’ attention to the most important dessert – the wedding cake! The specialty linens pictured are available in limited quantities and are perfect for making a creative cake table statement.

Wedding Cake

The name says it all. This voluminous linen resembles, well, the wedding cake itself!

Athena Green

This demure green is accented by a unique sage print. Elegant and sophisticated, Athena Green is perfect as a bold pop of color under your wedding cake or dessert display.

Black and White Discs Overlay

The white discs attached to this black linen make a funky 3-D statement. Black and white, this classic color combo works great when accented by a bright color.

Floral Fantasy

This overlay is, well, fantastic! A creamy neutral shade accented with tulle flowers, this cap-style linen works beautifully over any of our floor-length linens.

Purple Lilac Leaf

The best part about this purple linen is the smooth velvet leaf print in tempered shades of gray. Combined with a sleek lilac fabric, this linen really makes a sophisticated statement!

Ivory Swirling Fantasy Overlay

This overlay is very versatile and has been very popular over a variety of linen shades! Featuring ivory satin edging, the Ivory Swirl is pictured here over our Raspberry poly linen.

Vine Shalimar

Shimmery and colorful, Vine Shalimar is a great way to spice up your cake table. Not for the faint of heart, this green is rich and bright.

Mango Tango

This tropical print creates a fun pop of summery color that can go with many different wedding colors and themes. Additionally, this is a great linen to consider for a gift table at a baby shower! Pina Colada, anyone?

Jonesing for Fall…Teal & Burnt Orange Inspiration

posted by semarketing on September 2nd, 2011

As we near the end of the hot summer months, it’s always nice for us at Southern Events to look forward to lovely fall weather weddings. The colors are so crisp and the weather is, well, beautiful! We had the good fortune to work with Jennifer Creed on a wedding at CJ’s Off the Square in October of 2010. The Enchanted Florist complimented the beautiful centerpieces featuring our Wrought Iron Tabletop Lanterns and Maggie Glass Cylinders with a touch of orange fall foliage. We just loved the look it created with teal table runners! Guests enjoyed a variety of delicious drinks including mimosas and coffee in some very classic and fun glassware.

Country Chic Farm Wedding – Ashley Williams

posted by semarketing on August 26th, 2011

There is something that is always so stunningly beautiful about the mixture of country chic and vintage style! Set in the lush Tennessee countryside, Ashley Williams’ May farm wedding had a great array of event spaces. Pictured below, their ceremony space was accented with some great mismatched frames as a backdrop and was located on the back lawn overlooking a beautiful pond for a truly scenic and romantic ceremony. Once the party got underway, guests spent time in the horse round pen furnished with many of our Vintage Prop Shoppe pieces! And as for delicious food, Mandy Johnson Photography caught some awesome detail shots of their dessert display- Banana Pudding anyone?

It’s in the Details!

The true way to set your event apart from any other is in the details. No matter the venue – barn, garden or even the beach – there are some beautiful ways to display favors and food or table features. Some real weddings from Style Me Pretty, The Wedding Chicks and Green Wedding Shoes offer some fantastic shots of great detail features and centerpiece ideas!

The Wedding Chicks recently featured a vintage barn wedding with a favor that encouraged guests to express themselves! These stacked suitcases that let the guests drop in love notes for the bride and groom are a great way to create personal  and creative mementos from your event. We recently added a few items that can help you achieve this look – check out out our Assorted Frames and the Sir Scrappy Suitcase!

One of my favorite rentals from Southern Events is our Belmont Beaded Charger. This Napa Valley wedding featured on Style Me Pretty really dressed up a simple outdoor table setting and even added a style feature with a vintage key napkin ring. Plus, the mint julep cups used for some simple pink  flowers really tied the look together.

A big thank you to Lane Proffitt Photography for these fantastic detail shots featuring our Mason Jars and Candy Jars! This wedding, taking place at Travellers Rest in Nashville, added some bright pops of yellow and blue color to a beautiful country venue. Plus, the paper straws and colorful candy favors really enhanced the fun look and feel of the reception!

A Vintage Affair

It is truly the accessories that can make an event really stand out. Whether it’s a glam barn wedding or a vintage garden party, little sparks of creativity really go a long way!

If you’re looking for additional vintage furniture or accessories for your event, our Vintage Prop Shoppe is worth a visit!

This birdcage veil from the rtisan Etsy designer is such a simple way to add a vintage touch, and the Swarovski crystals take it to another level!

The Pretty Blog has some amazingly creative invites that are available to print- for free! This vintage postage style is simple but makes a beautiful statement.

Martha Stewart Weddings featured a wedding that utilized adorable vintage typewriter keys as place card accents.

Ace Photography took some incredible shots of a vintage wedding at CJ’s Off The Square this summer! They integrated some vintage style with old typewriters and invitations and programs embossed with silhouettes of the bride and groom.

One of my favorite crafty vintage pieces is definitely the brooch bouquet. Although it can be heavier than flowers, it adds a personal touch to your special day, especially if the jewelry used is given to the bride by family or friends! Vintage Prop Shoppe at CJ’s Off the Square’s Open House

posted by semarketing on June 20th, 2011

One of the best things about the approach of the warm summer months is the ability to pair a sweet summer feel with our new Vintage Prop Shoppe furniture and accessories! At CJ’s Off the Square’s Spring Open House, the fantastic atmosphere allowed guests to explore different shabby chic design ideas both indoors and outdoors.

Accent pillows such as these pastel options complimented our Cora Couch and Grayson Side Table!

The mercury glass votives on the Roundabout Candelabra give it a vintage feel and a cool layered effect.

Our cute Opal Side Table paired with our Rosie and Christopher Chairs made a great garden sitting area.

Inside the venue, we created a cozy retreat featuring the Lydia Arm Chair, Douglas Bench and vintage birdcages! The pillows featuring French script and crowns really added a touch of elegance to this seating area.

We currently have over 50 unique items featured in our Vintage Prop Shoppe line, but we are continually adding more pieces. If you’d like to see more, please visit our Vintage Prop Shoppe page! To reserve pieces for your next event, email us at info@southerneventsonline.com.
